When thinking of buying bathroom lights, it is always good to put a few elements of your lighting preferences and bathroom décor into consideration. You need to clearly define your likes and dislikes while giving a serious consideration into the kind of light fixtures you would love to see in your bathroom. Basically, bathroom lighting should not only be functional but also visually appealing.

You need to consider your likes and dislikes before installing bathroom lighting. In addition take into mind task, ambiance, decorative and accent lighting prior to installing.
A wall sconce is a great idea for bathroom lighting. Small in size, but delivers a great decorative lighting.

To be able to define your likes and dislikes, try asking yourself the most important question in lighting -- what type of light do you wish to have in your bathroom? Generally, bathroom lighting is categorized into 4 – ambient, accent, task, and decorative, which are all self explanatory.

Ambient lighting facilitates easy and safe movement within the bathroom. Task lighting is mostly turned on manually and will mostly be used in the bathroom to complete particular tasks hence is used only when needed. Accent lighting is used in the bathroom to set the perfect mood while their decorative counterparts are used to create the desired effect and embellish the entire room. A bathroom wall sconce may fall into accent and decorative lighting. Sconces are designed for minimal floor space and they come in various styles.

The other consideration to make in bathroom lighting is the amount of natural light that gets into your bathroom. Try not to ‘over-light’ your bathroom during the day but ensure there is sufficient lighting for nighttime use. The color of your bathroom will also be used to determine the kind of bathroom lighting to buy. Basically, the paint on the wall will determine what color of lighting you will finally go with. This is because the color of the lighting would need to react and match positively to that of the room.

Some paint colors on the wall work perfectly with white-based lighting while others do best with yellow-based lighting. If you aren’t sure of the perfect bathroom lighting for the existing color, it is always good to consult a professional.
